Applegate has captured the magic that was the Sweetlife Festival through their photo booth at Merriweather. Fans stopped by all day to check out the Applegate bus, paint their logo wall (and their faces), and pose for some pictures. Applegate has created a facebook album so tag your self & your friends and relive some of the greatest moments from Sweetlife 2012.

digifabshop

You may have been wondering how we make our in-store style so sweet & sleek, the answer: digifabshop. This architectural woodwork & milling company combines the perfect combination of modern style with a homegrown, natural look. We knew that they would be the perfect people to task with creating and outfitting the sweetlife atmosphere at this year’s festival. The Merriweather Post Pavilion grounds was the perfect backdrop for the festival and digifabshop played off the beautiful natural setting that surrounded the stage. Digifabshop built the trees that dotted the food forest & the signature painted sign that popped at the top of the lawn. Check out some of their amazing work below

SWEETLIFE 2012 RECAP

How do you write about a festival? Can you capture the energy, the excitement, and the buzz in the air? Probably not… but that doesn’t mean we can’t try. Here’s our recap of the magic that was Sweetlife Festival 2012:

The gates opened at noon and fans started exploring Merriweather Post Pavilion, staking out a spot on the lawn by the mainstage, wandering through the food forest, and venturing up to the treehouse stage where Ben Browning started the day off. Fun opened the main stage with a bang, and A$AP Rocky kept the energy going soon after. Up by the treehouse stage, fans were snacking on Shake Shack burgers, Luke’s Lobsters, Taim Falafel sandwiches and so much more while listening to Action Bronson, Haim, Yuna, and LP.

Not surprisingly, our amazing sponsors were up to some crazy things… among them, Applegate had mural (and face) painting, TRASHed was helping people recycle and keep MPP clean, Unison had a tech-saavy table that linked to phones, and Global Inheritance let everyone take a turn on their giant swing.

Back on the main stage, Fitz and the Tantrums had fans grooving, and Explosions in the Sky were so great that they successfully distracted from the drizzle. Meanwhile, The Knocks, U.S. Royalty, and RAC had a dance party going at the treehouse stage that had even the food forest vendors dancing. Delta Spirit, Zola Jesus, and Twin Shadow closed out that stage perfectly.

The Shins ramped up the energy on the main stage while the crowd danced and snacked on Pleasant Pops and Toki Underground (and those of age sipped on some Peak Organic beer). The sun went down just as Kid Cudi took the stage, playing music from his entire discography and satisfying fans of all ages. After Cudi’s set, the crowd grabbed giant foam #sweetlife glow sticks — the best accessory for the final act of the night: Avicii. Between “Blessed” and a “Levels” remix that sampled Gotye, it’s safe to say that everyone in attendance danced like they never had before.

To everyone that came out – whether you were a fan, a vendor, a sponsor, an artist, or a volunteer – THANK YOU for living the sweetlife with us. Sweetlife Festival 2012 was unforgettable.

Eagle Bank

Banks have gotten a bad rap recently, but Eagle Bank is trying to change that. They’re all about being a part of their community – working directly from the neighborhoods in which their customers live and work.

Their dedication to local banking is similar to our passion for locally sourced ingredients. It’s all about supporting your community!

The Sweetlife Festival is cutting out the plastic this year and credit cards won’t be accepted, so stop by an Eagle Bank ATM at the festival to keep the cash flowing.

greeNEWit & AArrow Signs

Josh Notes, Jason Jannati and Matej Harangozo are busy dudes. Founders of greeNEWit and owners of AArrow Advertising, they’ve got a lot on their plate.

greeNEWit is an organization founded to help society build more sustainable communities and better economies through energy efficiency and conserving the use of natural resources. They’re committed to creating new solutions for life’s challenges by involving the community to support continued education, humanitarian advancement, and economic development. And they’re dedicated to young people, their communities, and their future. greeNEWit Chief Communication Officer Jason Jannati said, “I am very passionate about employing, developing and empowering youth to become future leaders in their communities.”

Josh, Jason, and Matej got involved with AArrow Advertising in order to promote their greeNEWit product line, but sign spinning has become a sort of performance art and the demand for AArrow signs is increasing. With the power of guerrilla marketing and their AArrow Advertising franchise, they are increasing awareness about the initiatives at greeNEWit and creating jobs for youth.

There were some AArrow sign spinners doing their thing at the 2011 Sweetlife Festival, and they’ll be back again this year.

Check out the video below to learn more about how greeNEWit got started and their dedication to a more energy efficient society.

Sweetlife / Joola traveling Ping Pong Tournament

Earlier this month, the Sweetlife Festival teamed up with Joola USA to host various ping pong competitions at 5 sweetgreen locations throughout DC, MD, and VA. Dozens of competitors took to the table, challenging one another as well as the Ping Pong National Champ, Peter Li.

The stakes were high with tickets to the festival on the line, but everyone had a great time taking a break from their daily routine and playing a little sidewalk table tennis.

Check out the recap video the guys at Joola put together! Huge thanks to Joola and Honest Tea, who came out to the tournament in Logan Circle.
